Goal of the Week #32: Cook Something

2012-10-07 14.49.46This week’s goal: Cook Something. Now that summer’s over – and before the holidays hit – time to get back to those healthy eating habits. You don’t need to be a gourmet cook. Just google a recipe … if you don’t already have a favorite, go shopping, and cook. Invite a bunch of friends or a special someone. Just as important as working are creating good eating habits, taking breaks, and socializing. This goal allows for all three. Bon apetit!

What will you cook this week?

Goal of the Week #31 Have Fun

At the PoolThis week’s goal: Have some fun! You work too hard. You know you do. So this week, give yourself a break. Go for a swim. See a movie. Have dinner with a friend. Go dancing. Have a karaoke night.

Sometimes it’s just as important to schedule down-time as it is get things accomplished. Remember, everything on your list will get done. A few hours should leave you feeling refreshed and improve your perspective. Enjoy!

What fun activity will you do this week?

Goal of the Week #30 Update Your Bio

LinkedInThis week’s goal: Update your bio. In this competitive work environment, it’s important to keep your bio and work experience up-to-date. This week, schedule time to look at all the places where you post your work experience – your resume and your website bio, as well as your LinkedIn and other social media profiles.

Make sure you last job is accurate and add any new skills, accomplishments, and organizations or clubs. Also, update your headshot, press clips, or work examples, and anything else that might be relevant.

Try to do a check of your bio and resume at least once a season. It’s helpful – and more professional – to have your most accurate information at the ready for potential employers as well as people who want to do business with you.

September 2013 Goals

AutumnCan’t believe it’s September already. Where did the summer go? Good news is you have another four months to complete those annual goals. Bad news is … nope, no bad news. However, since summer is over, it’s time to adjust your schedule again. How many hours a week is it reasonable for you to work on your project(s)? How many hours can you commit to in September? Once you determine that, schedule that time in your calendar. Even if the time is flexible, enter a reminder in your calendar on Monday about how many hours you will work – and track after the fact – each week. Remember, hold yourself accountable for these commitments. You wouldn’t cancel a business meeting with another person, so do not cancel appointments with yourself. Good luck.

What are your goals for September?
